«Safe Paws» a personalised 12-week support programme for fearful and traumatised rescue dogs and the people who love them, with a special focus on Podencos.

When your traumatised rescue dog seems constantly on high alert and nothing you have tried is making a real difference. You've tried training, advice, different methods, dog trainers, veterinarians... and yet the feeling remains: „My dog doesn't trust me and no matter what I do, I can't get through to him.“

Do any of these situations sound familiar?

  • Walks feel stressful, tense, or unpredictable
  • Your dog freezes, tries to escape, or suddenly reacts defensively
  • Everyday situations feel difficult to manage
  • You constantly find yourself explaining your dog's behaviour to neighbours, friends, or professionals
  • Even small things like setting the table become an ordeal.
  • More and more of your life revolves around your dog's fears

And then there's that quiet moment when you find yourself wondering: „What am I doing wrong?“

You have not done too little

You've simply been trying to solve something that cannot be resolved through training alone.  A dog living in survival mode cannot truly learn, process, or build trust. not consciously, but out of a Nervous system out, which still perceives danger, Freeze, Flight, or Fight. Not because he doesn't want to, but because he can't help it. And that's precisely why classic approaches don't work. This is exactly where my work comes in.

Why Podencos need a different kind of support
Podencos are not "difficult" dogs. They are highly sensitive dogs with exceptionally responsive nervous systems. What may show up as uncertainty in another dog can already feel like alarm in a Podenco. They absorb more, react more quickly, and often experience the world more intensely. As a result, they need a different kind of support and understanding.
I know this dynamic not only through my work, but through life with my own rescue Podencos. That is why my approach is particularly well suited to these sensitive souls, while remaining equally valuable for other dogs and their humans.

What can change for you and your dog

I'm not promising you a "perfect" dog.

What I can offer is a path towards:

• Greater clarity instead of helplessness

• Genuine understanding instead of focusing solely on behaviour

• A dog who can gradually begin to feel safe again

• More calm and ease in everyday life

• Trust that takes time to build, but lasts

Your dog begins to realise: The Danger is over! And you begin to feel capable and confident again.

Why I chose this path and why I truly understand it

My first dog was hearing impaired. She was the beginning of everything. She taught me to feel differently, listen differently, and lead differently, without words and without pressure.

Then came my rescue dogs, 4 souls, 4 stories, 4 very different expressions of fear. I didn't train them into trust. I didn't try to condition their behaviour. Instead, I learned to understand their nervous systems, listen to their bodies, and respect the impact of trauma. Before I ever asked anything of them, I built a relationship. These dogs became my greatest teachers.

Today, I guide you and your dog along the same path: Away from simply functioning and towards genuine understanding, safety, and connection.

My experience:

  • 17 years of personal experience with my own dogs
  • 4 traumatised rescue dogs of my own, including 3 Podencos
  • Experience with dogs living with disabilities
  • Collaboration with animal welfare and rescue organisations
  • Supporting many human-dog teams on their journey
